Tru64 V4.0F memory leak

Admins:

A few weeks ago, we installed patch kit 7 on our Alpha DS20 running
Tru64 V4.0F. Over the past few weeks we have noticed what seems to be a
serious memory leak. The system runs Oracle databases as its primary
application. Using top command shows some serious problems with memory.
Since installation of the patch kit, the server shows about 3.5 Gb of
memory free and also lots of virtual memory immediately after a boot.
After only a few hours, top command shows that free memory is down to
nothing (14Mb) and virtual memory also indicates extremely small (33Mb
for example). Prior to the patch kit install we did not experience this
problem.

This would seem to indicate that we have a serious memory leak, however
I do not understand why a simply patch kit install might have caused
this. We have not found an extreme performance hit yet, but obviously I
am concerned.

My question is, has anyone else seen this kind of problem after a
patch-kit install? Also, what tools or scripts should I use to get a
better insight into what process or application might be taking memory
and not releasing it? Is there a possibility that top command is not
showing me the correct information?

Any comments would be welcome.

Thanks in advance,
