versw command

Hello everyone,
I have just finished to install for one of our customer a cluster of ES40
with Tru64 V5.1A and Patch Kit 3.
After that I discovered looking better at the release notes for PK3 there
are additional steps required when installing patches before cluster
creation. In effect I did :

1. Installation of Tru64 Unix
2. Installation of TruCluster Kit
3. Installation of Patch Kit 3
4. Execution of clu_create command

In this situation according to release notes you must perform two additional
steps before running the clu_create command :

First run the versw version switch command to set new version identifier

# /usr/sbin/versw -setnew

and second run versw command again to switch to the new version

# /usr/sbin/versw -switch

I completely forgot to run this two commands but apparently everything seems
to work properly.
Can anyone on this list help me understand why I have to do this two
additional steps and which is now the way to fix what I actually forgot to
do ?

Many Thanks in advance.
