vmunix: arp: illegal IP address

Recently we connected a Wyse Winterm to our network which goes through a
Enterasys VH-2402s fast ethernet switch.
Since the connection, whenever the Winterm is powered on I get the following
message on all my Tru64 systems:
vmunix: arp: illegal IP address 255.255.255.255 is used by hardware
address 00-80-64-17-86-47
I'm running a combination of v4.0D and 5.1A Tru64, both get the error.
There are plans in the near future to connect more of the Winterms, so I
would like to resolve this issue.
In another division going through a Cabletron smart switch router 8600, I do
not get the error, so I'm confused on what is causing the error.
I check the archives and there was an old message from 1997 that said there
was an issue with a Cabletron problem.
I'm told that Enterasys is owned by Cabletron and this was installed in
2001, so I would think that the previous archive problem would have been
solved.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

thanks,
