Thanks to all who replied. proc subsystem is the
answer.

The info you need is in the "System config and Tuning"
Manual

You need to look under the proc subsystem under
dxkerneltuner, check
out the max* parameters. I think you'll probably be
able to figure it out from there. This changes the
maximum limit for all users though, not a per process
or user limit btw. ulimit will only change the sizes
up to the max listed in the proc subsystem.
