SCSI bus problem with 5.0a migration

I was trying the 4.0f - 5.0a migration to see if it would work with
patch kit 6. It does the install, but there are some errors with the second
scsi controller. This is an 875-based card that always worked with 4.0f,
even though it said unsupported, but now I have some errors on the initial
reboot of 5.0a:

*** Attempt to run on unsupported adapter *** ( I'm used to seeing that
one )
CAM Subsystem: probe failed
hba_dme_attach: (1/n/n) - hba 'itpsa' attach failed.
cam_logger: SCSI event packet
cam_logger: bus 1
ccfg_simattach()
SIM Attach Failed, sin_init() reported FAILURE - Retry
itpsa_attach_instance: Failure status returned from xpt_bus_register()
itpsa_confl1: itpsa0 attach failed
psiop_pci_initialize: Warning - Using unsupported 53c875 scsi chip
Loading SIOP: script c0012000, reg 82049000, data 415e2000

scsi2 at psiop1 slot 0

It almost seems to have retried and succeeded, but none of the
drives are seen and of course the fstab makes it bomb out and go into single
user mode. Is my SCSI card that worked in 4.0f just not going to work in
5.0a, or is this something that happened during the migration?

        The hardware is:

        Alpha 200 4/166
internal SCSI bus (on the board) with rz0, cdrom, and an external
tape drive attached.
Second SCSI controller with three external ultra scsi drives, all
with targets less than 7
Firmware 7.0 (as high as it goes for this box, I think)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, ideas, thoughts, dumb looks,
or insults.
