vdump hangs

Hello every-one,
We have Tru 5.0A UNIX on ES40. Each time I run vdump, it hangs for hours
and does not backup anything. The command I used is
/sbin/vdump -0 -N -U -u -f /dev/ntape/tape0_d1 /CMI

Any help would be great.
