Our primary library catalog software is currently running under Tru64 version 5.1A, with patch kit 3 installed. The software includes a built-in mailer client program, leaving sendmail to handle the processing of outgoing and incoming mail. Fine so far.
Everything works great, except that outgoing mail headers are no including the full/personal name information from the /etc/passwd file.
Our sendmail version is:
> /usr/lib/sendmail -d0.1 -bt < /dev/null
Version 8.9.3
Compiled with: LDAPMAP LOG MATCHGECOS MIME7TO8 MIME8TO7 NAMED_BIND NDBM
NETINET NETUNIX NEWDB NIS QUEUE SCANF SMTP USERDB XDEBUG
I have been concentrating on the sendmail.cf file, but I cannot see anything wrong. It already has the following:
# format of a total name
Dq$?x$x $.<$g>
H?F?From: $?x$x <$g>$|$g$.
H?x?Full-Name: $x
We also have the following 3 M lines, although i do not think they are all relevant:
Mlocal, P=/iiidb/software/hm7/mailer, F=lsDFMAw5:/|@qrmn9, S=10/30,R=20/40, T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix, A=iiimail -d $u
Mprog, P=/bin/sh, F=lsDFM, S=10, R=20, A=sh -c $u

I am NOT very knowledgeable - I am just trying to work through this and could not locate a functioning answer with the help of O'Reilly's Sendmail 2nd ed. book.
Suggestions are *very* welcome. :)
