Thanks to all for the quick answers!
My original question is below:

Summary:

sizer -v tells you the OS, either 5.1 or 5.1A
Also Richard Jackson sent a nice table listing revision numbers to OS
versions.

Latest Patchkits are pk3 for 5.1A and pk5 for 5.1

=============== original question ========================================

Hi,

I have a few questions re: patch kits...

1) How can I easily tell if a system is running 5.1 or 5.1A ?
   uname -a reports 5.1 regardless of if it's 5.1 or 5.1A
   Do the revision numbers tell you?
   5.1 (Rev 732) == version 5.1
   5.1 (Rev 1885) == version 5.1 A ???

2) Whats the latest patch kit for 5.1 and 5.1A ?

3) At ftp://ftp.service.digital.com/public/unix/
   how can you tell what file is which patch kit?

   ie: I'm looking for Patck Kit 5 for 5.1

   Which filename poes this correspond do?
   It's not very clear.

Thanks

Paul

Look for the large, 112MB, file that begins with t64v51b19as00005-2002...

Hi

sizer -v gives you the version of Tru64 you are running

I can't help much with 2 and 3. The naming is in my opinion quite confusing.

PR> Do the revision numbers tell you?

try sizer -v instead, much clearer.

PR> 2) Whats the latest patch kit for 5.1 and 5.1A ?

V5.1 - patch kit 5
V5.1A - patch kit 3

http://ftp1.support.compaq.com/public/Digital_UNIX/v5.1/Tru64_UNIX_V5.1/doc/htm/TITLE.HTM

follow the same hierarchy for other os versions.

This should indicate the pk no.

5.1A ?
Ans
sizer -v

2) Whats the latest patch kit for 5.1 and 5.1A ?

5.1A Patch kit 3

3) At ftp://ftp.service.digital.com/public/unix/

Go to this
