Legato Backup of SAN- Performance problem

Hi all,
I 'm facing performance problem while taking backup of TruCluster 5.1A/Tru64Unix 5.1A (without any patch kit installed) through Legato Server configured on Intel Based Win2K(SP-2) platform.

All the Systems & Tape Library are connected to Compaq/HP SAN through FC-Switch.

When I take backup of Win2K/Exchange Servers overall performance is around 3-5 MB/Sec but when I take backup of Unix Servers which are in Cluster performance reduces to 200-400 KB/sec. This takes many hours to complete Unix backup of just 10GB. Now I have 2 queries related to this problem:

a) Is there any workaround, patch in Legato/Unix Server to resolve this problem.
b) How can I make sure that the BACKUP of Legato is happening through SAN and not through LAN. Though I've installed Power edition SAN Storage Node for Unix Lic., NW Cluster Client Connection Lic. for Unix, NW Client PAK for Unix Lic....etc.
