strange date problem - oracle 9irac/trucluster 5.1a

G'day folks. Our dba reports a very strange problem occurring in both
our Trucluster v5.1a systems running Oracle 9iRAC. Here's the description
they sent:
        --------------------------------------------------
When we add records to a queue table in the database, the "enqueue"
time should reflect the date the record was added. Oddly enough the
enqueue time is always two days in the future! Very strange.
The OS 'date' command seems correct as does doing a query for 'sysdate'
within the database.
I went back through our Oracle 9i installation documentation
for Tru64 clusters and came across the following steps we
ran(as root):

# mknod /dev/timedev c 15 0
# chmod 644 /dev/timedev

According to the documentation, this allows the Oracle database
"direct access to the operating system's real time clock." Is there
any chance the real time clock is off? Like maybe two days in the
future? ;-)
I'm working with Oracle support but they have been unable to
duplicate this problem on their Tru64 test system.
        -----------------------------------------------------

Can anyone provide any clues as to what might be going on here?

Huge TIA!!
