Many thanks to Bernard Levesque, Ralf Aniol and Keith Strange who
responded to my question below:

Responses

We have 20-30 large oracle clusters using both storageworks and emc
(version 5.1 and 5.1a)with no issues, as long is all firmware is up to
date
there are no problems.

You will also need to know that when you go in to "wwidmgr" (at the
POO>>>)
to quickset your cluster boot devices you must use the disk wwid as the
emc
devices unique identifier will be random and hard to match.

I would also insure that the cluster boot, root, usr, var and quorum
disks
be simple mirrors from emc and not meta-devices. What we normally do is
break up a single meta device which then gives us 8 simple mirror
devices.

5.1a has significant directI/O advantages over 5.1 in the Truclsuter
environment.

mostly all our Tru64 systems (about 80) are connected (SCSI and SAN) to
EMC-Storage.
No problems using Oracle 8i (single instances and parallel servers) with
direct-i/o.
There are a few flag-settings in the emc-storage which are needed for a
correct communication between host and storage (persistent-reserve flag,
C-Flag and
some more). The correct storage configuration is described in a emc
white paper,
which the emc technicians should follow when configuring the system.
On the Tru64 side you have to add an entry to ddr.dbase. That guarantees
that
the host is recognizing the storage as "direct access i/o disk" and not
as
"served disk". It's also responsible for accessing the storage subsystem
with the right parameters.
