Hello there!

While booting on Tru64 V5.1A encountered a fan exception:

...
Base O/S subagent started
Server System subagent started
Server Management subagent started
CIM SNMP subagent started
Performance Management subagent started
Web Based Management Agent started
ConfigReport Management Module started
SysMan Management Module started
Threshold Management Subagent started

Broadcast Message from root@dev03.nagra.com (???) at 10:17 ...

System fan has failed and system will shutdown right now.
Environmental Monitoring Daemon did not start...trying again
/sbin/rc3.d/S51envmon: 702 Terminated
syncing disks... done
CPU 0: Halting... (transferring to monitor)

halted CPU 0

halt code = 5
HALT instruction executed
PC = fffffc0000529d30
Resetting I/O buses...
>>>

I switched off the DS10 AlphaServer, removed the cover, and switched it on
again. The CPU fan and power source fan were both functional...

It successfully booted this time:

...
Threshold Management Subagent started
Environmental Monitoring Daemon started.
AdvFS daemon (advfsd) started.
Internet services provided.
Cron service started
SuperLAT. Copyright 1994 Meridian Technology Corp. All rights reserved.
LAT started.
Printer service started
SysMan authentication server (smauthd) started
SysMan Station server (smsd) started
The system is ready.

# sysconfig -q envmon
envmon:
env_current_temp = 37
env_high_temp_thresh = 60
env_fan_status = 0
env_ps_status = 0
env_supported = 1

Q: Was this a false alarm due to an envmon bug? What should I check if it is
happening again? Call agent Cooper ;)

Thanks,
Daniel
