Hello Tru64 Managers,
Have been having problems with NFS timeouts mounting DVDs in a jukebox via
NFS3. The DVD takes about 30 seconds to load, during that time you get:
NFS3 server localhost not responding still trying
NFS3 server localhost ok
messages on the screen and in the system log. Tried setting 'timeo=600' as
suggested by mount(8) but that doesn't seem to work. See below for further
details. Any suggestions?

Sorry, on Tru64 we do not know, or think there is a way to
change NFS
(loopback) time outs.
On other Operating Systems timeo value seems to work fine
but not on Tru64.
So you are going to see "NFS3 not responding / OK" messages
in your system
log.

Product: MagnaVault 227

Problem Title: MagnaVault 227: NFS3 server
localhost not
responding still trying
Problem Description:
When loading a DVD into a jukebox drive, the messages:
NFS3 server localhost not responding still trying
NFS3 server localhost ok
appear on the screen and in the system error log(s).
You should be able to overcome this by modifying /etc/xfstab
from:
JAM04001 11df11df.886aaa1a udf 0 1 rw,auto,rdirid=400008b -
0 - 0 -
/jb/JAM04001
to:
JAM04001 11df11df.886aaa1a udf 0 1
rw,auto,timeo=600,rdirid=400008b - 0 - 0
- /jb/JAM04001
either directly or via /opt/bakbone/bin/xfstab -o. See
mount(8) for details.
But it doesn't work. Please advise how to configure NFS
timeouts for DVDs.
