Need help with a compile problem

Hello,

Apologies for being a bit off-topic.

I am trying to get a clean compile of the mod_jk
plugin for Apache (v. 1.3.9) in order to use the
tomcat servlet exec functionality. I have managed
to resolve everything except the following:

Object file format error in: Makefile.linux: read_cur_obj_info: bad file
magic number(0x2323)

Makefile.linux has been edited to reflect the fact
that it is running on an AlphaServer 1000A w/DU 4.0f.
I have tried both cc and gcc, getting the same error.

Can anyone help me out with this?
