changing graphics cards with tru64

Hi, all,

I have an alphastation
which has a graphics card based onb the S3 chip set. This cards max
resolution seems to be 1024x768. I wanted to put a new better card in but
searching the archives of this list revealed that it may be problematic in
that I would have to get a Tru64 supported card and that that may be expensive.

I also had a DS20 with a Gloria EIAS card which can do 1280x1024. As both
were supported I though I could simply swap them; however when I did this the
Gloria card in the alphastation only operated in standard vga mode (640x..)

Can anybody explain why this may be as the tru64 version in the alphastation
is latter then the DS20. Is there a cheep way to upgrade the card in the
alphastation (cheep means at PC card prices not Compaq ones).

Thanks in advance

Rob
