ORIGINAL QUESTION
=====================
Can anyone tell me whether I can expect any problems with the following
plan:

To build an in-house C++ application on V4.0D for use on V5.1? In the past
we have built on 4.0D and delivered onto 4.0G without any problems. We are
now looking at upgrading some of our machine O/Ss and I would like to get an
indication of whether this process (build 4.0D deliver on 5.1) is supported.
Obviously we will (eventually) be testing this.

ANSWER
========

In general, should just work. There are some interfaces (e.g., the use
of Adobe Display PostScript, the old Digital Compound Document Arch.)
that are gone in V4.0G and in V5.x, so if you were dependent on them
you probably would have already found issues; if you are building on
V4.0D and running fine on V4.0G, you will probably have no problems in
running on V5.x either, but until you try it, you won't know. If you
have problems, they should surface almost immediately.
