SUMMARY: automount without NIS weird error

Thanks to Ian Mortimer and James Sainsbury for almost instant answers.
I had the system running properly in about 60 seconds after reading the
response from Ian:

You need /etc/auto.tmp and so on in the auto.master files.
Without a path it expects a NIS map.

Thanks,

You need /etc/auto.tmp and so on in the auto.master files. Without a path
it expects a NIS map.
