Currently we have 5 alpha servers (2 ES40, DS20E, DS10L, 1200) all of which
are connected to an HSG80 or HSZ70 which provide hardware raid. I have been
tasked to determine if LSM will help manage any of our storage. Each box has
either 1 or 2 Raid 1+0 sets managed by the HS? controllers. We have no raw
partitions and use AdvFS exclusively. My question then becomes will we gain
anything by using LSM?
I am inclined to answer no, as we have hardware to do raid and AdfFS lets us
have multiples filesets per domain.
We are also looking at clustering several of these boxes, will LSM buy us
anything in a clust. I would say no here also.
I would like oppions of others, as I haven't been able to find anything on
the net.
