Hi,

The lack of response that I've had about this issue would suggest that no
such scripts actually exist.
A couple of people have suggested looking at Enterprise Volume Manager,
however our budget won't extend to this.

Looks like our scripting skills are going to be tested to the full !

Regards,

Rob

Subject: Command Scripter backup scripts

Hi,

We've recently moved the storage for our GS60 (v5.1A) onto a pair of dual

redundant HSG80's
The main data area is a Raid 0 stripe created from 4 three way mirrors.

In order to backup the system, we are planning on dropping out one member

of each mirrorset, and mounting them up on a separate DS20 (v5.1A).

We've managed to do this successfully from the command line, via Command
Scripter, but we're running into problems with scripting things, due to
the potential for things to go wrong - ie the need to check that each
three way mirror has three good members before you reduce it to two etc.
etc.
Trapping errors with cmdscript, does not seem particularly easy, mainly
because of the variety of errors which could be returned by the various
parts of the system.

Is anyone aware of any "off the shelf" scripts that can be used, albeit
with some customization, which would do what we want ?

Regards,

Rob Leadbeater
