Hello!
This is acctually one of my first close encounters with alpha
systems, as well as the first post to the list. I would
like to say "hello" to every one.
My problem (among many others) is:
is it possible to install an ide hard disk in the 500au?
there is, according to some sheet of paper i found behind the desk,
"on board eide controller", which seems to be working fine with
atapi cdrom, but is not doing so good with any ide hard disk.
The problem is much bigger than that only, because i
have there two scsi disks, with deleted partitions, and
changed fs to fat(which was and should be ufs or advfs),
but this is the subject for the next post,
while this one is finished.

P.S.
`show DEVICES` does not show the ide disk connected, only atapi cdrom
drive, which is "slave" for the disk. The scsi controller is
working fine.
