Can MRU handle an MSL5026SL tape library

Hello admins,

We are planning to purchase a dual drive SDLT library and would like to know
whether Media Robot Utility could be used to operate it. I would like to
use vdump and rvdump utilities to backup data inside the MA8000. Due to
fairly simple data setup, we prefer not to use Veritas or Legato. We are
using Tru64 UNIX 5.1A and planning to connect the tape library to a Modular
Data Router and than to SAN. In the past we had issues with using Ultrium
libraries in HP-UX environment. fbackup was not able to load the libraries
to their advertised throughput of about 15MB per second native. Once we
started using Veritas NetBackup, after a few tuning sessions, we approached
the advertised througput on the Ultrium drives.

So my questions:

1. Will MRU work with a SDLT library connected to an MDR and then to SAN.
2. Will vdump be able to write to SDLT tape drives at advertised througput
rate of about 12MB/sec native or will it be a 1-2MB/sec dog?

Thanks,

Subject: SUMMARY: mixing UltraSCSI and Fibre shared buses

Thanks to Corinne Haesaerts and Alan from cpqcorp.net. Both confirmed my
assumption that there would be no issue with using an UltraSCSI shared bus
and a fibre shared bus in a cluster. Corinne has a two member cluster using
an UltraSCSI (RA3000) and a fibre (MA8000) buses.

My original question was whether there are potential issues with using an
UltrSCSI and a fibre buses together in a cluster.
