Subject: Can't rewrite terminal control entry for...

A client has a system that when we try to login to it it displays the
message 'Can't rewrite terminal control entry for pts/6'

They were trying to restore some of the authentication files (passwd, group,
ttys.db, etc) and they accidently restored from an old backup. They then
restored the files that were replaced from a backup from lastnight. This is
when they started getting that message. Any help where to start looking?
