Hard Error 5

I'm running tru64 UNIX on a DEC Alpha 2100. I get a Hard Error 5 on one of
the channels of swxcr1. I invoked the stand-alone swxcr utility. The drive
has failed in the configuration, but when I go into tools to make the drive
optimal, I receive an error that there are no drives connected. I've tried
reseating the cable for the channel without resolution. Please help.
