Many thanks for the quick responses from Jim C. & kat.

kat said "install the md5 utility from the open source CD",

Jim said check out:

<http://www.support.compaq.com/svctools/md5-instructions.html>

Part of the instructions at this URL tell you to download the *.md5_digest
file when you download the kit tar files, which must be outdated, as those
digest files don't exist.

But running the 'md5sum.dunix' file available at that URL on the tar file
gives you a checksum that can be compared against the one on the
kit description page.

Original question:

All of the patch kit descriptions list the MD5 & SHA1 checksums
for the kit tarballs.

How do I determine these checksums for those files after they've been
downloaded?

The 'sum' & 'cksum' commands don't seem to have an MD5 flag.

TIA
