Summary: Backing up NTFS security data?

I got 2 answers from Octave Orgeron and Joe Fletcher. Many thanks.

Joe stated that ASU and Legato backup work well.

Octave implied that the secret was using something like Legato or Veritas for the backup.

>From these responses, I assume tar, cpio, vdump, etc. loose the SMB metadata associated with security.
