Migrating tru64 passwords to openldap on linux...

Hello...

We have a large user base on a Tru64 5.0a system running enhanced security.

We want to move users over to a linux platform with openldap. I discovered
that I can copy/paste the tru64 encrypted password into the shadow password
field on a linux system and can authenticate, non-ldap.

The problem comes when I use the PADL migration tools to take user entries
out of shadow and passwd and put them into a ldap db. Once I do that,
I can't get ldap tools to use those passwords, even though linux auth could
(using crypt routines).

My question for the folks on this list is what the password format is for
Tru64 passwords. I was amazed that they even worked in the linux shadow
db, since I though DES crypted passwords (tru64 uses those?) were platform
specific....thanks....
