In particular I am attempting to calculate a value for aio_task_max_num.

according to Compaq Tru64 Unix and Oracle 9i: configuring Tru64 V5.1 for
Optimal Performance with Oracle 8.1.7.x/9i (march 5,2002)

I should set this value to be greater than DBWR I/O operations or
DB_FILE_MULTIBLOCK_READ_COUNT

with formula
(DB_WRITER_MAX_WRITES*DB_WRITER_PROCESSES)+(PARALLEL_MAX_SERVERS*DB_FILE_MUL
TIBLOCK_READ_COUNT)+10

1) Is this for OPS only
2) Is this per instance
3) where can I find the man page for this subsystem, rt.
