Summary: Server Locked Up

When I came in this morning - my server was locked up - I could not do
anything on it. The cursor would not move - I could not telnet into it -
no lights were blinking. I didn't see any fault codes or any error
messages any where. I rebooted it (pushed reset button) and the system
came up okay. Is there any where that I can check to see what happened -
any log files or anything like that?? Any help would be appreciated. I am
running version 5.1.

Didn't really find a reason why - but got a lot of the same resonses:

/var/adm/syslog.dated/current/daemon.log

Check /var/adm/messages and /var/adm/syslog.dated.  Those places are where
you should start looking first.  My inital guess is that something was
running and you ran out of swap space a processes started dying?  The
messages file should tell you this.

Check the binary error log (use, e.g., Compaq Analyze aka "ca" or "uerf"
or "dia", which ever you have installed and know how to use).

Check the /var/adm/messages log and the daemon logs in syslog.dated.

Don't be surprised if nothing useful got logged. If the system was
really hung, then it's quite possible that no logging occurred.

/usr/sbin/uerf -R | more
