Dear System Managers,

after a long while I (hope to have) found out what's the matter with my
caad problem.

TruCluster 5.1A with first patch applied

Watching at /var/adm/patch/log/session.log.* I found out that the
TruCluster 00084.00 patch was not applied

        Problem installing:

         - TruCluster_V5.1A / Security Related Patches:
Patch 00084.00 - Improved user control of the SNMP service

requires the existence of the following un-installed/un-selected subset(s):

         - Tru64_UNIX_V5.1A / Cluster Monitor Patches:
Patch 00269.00 - Improves user control of clu_mibs

This patch will not be installed.

Patch 00269.00 was not installed because:

        Problem installing:

         - Tru64_UNIX_V5.1A / Cluster Monitor Patches:
Patch 00269.00 - Improves user control of clu_mibs
              ./sbin/init.d/snmpd:
its origin can not be identified.

I don't remember what appened to /sbin/init.d/snmpd so since I noticed
that Patch 00269.00 simply consists of the single file
/sbin/init.d/snmpd
I manually installed it in such a way:
        gunzip -c OSFPAT00026900520 | tar -xf -

Now I have to install the patch 00084.00 which is the one I need to
solve my caad problems. I would like to know if I can avoid all the mess
of doing a CLU_UPGRADE (shutting down several time both members of my
cluster).

The contents of TCRPAT00008400520 are only the following:

        gunzip -c TCRPAT00008400520 |tar -tf -

./sbin/init.d/clu_caa
./sbin/init.d/clu_max
./usr/bin/caa_stat
./usr/lib/nls/msg/en_US.ISO8859-1/caa_ui.cat
./usr/lib/nls/msg/en_US.ISO8859-1/evmexp_caa.cat
./usr/sbin/caa_profile
./usr/sbin/caa_register
./usr/sbin/caa_relocate
./usr/sbin/caa_start
./usr/sbin/caa_stop
./usr/sbin/caa_unregister
./usr/sbin/caad
./usr/sbin/clu_mibs
./usr/sbin/cluster/caa_dbConvert
./usr/sbin/cluster/caa_lockDatastore
./usr/sbin/cluster/caa_rollDatastore
./usr/share/evm/templates/clu/caa/caa.evt
./usr/shlib/libpolicy.so
./usr/var/evm/adm/config/logger/caa_roll.conf
./var/cluster/caa/monitors/application.so
./var/cluster/caa/monitors/changer.so
./var/cluster/caa/monitors/network.so
./var/cluster/caa/monitors/tape.so
./var/cluster/caa/template/application.tdf
./var/cluster/caa/template/changer.tdf
./var/cluster/caa/template/generic.tdf
./var/cluster/caa/template/network.tdf
./var/cluster/caa/template/tape.tdf

Do you think I can simply untar the above files and leave the cluster in
the running state (with caad stopped, of course!) ?

Thank you very much
Ciao from Italy,

Emanuele
