Mgrs,

I saw the same presentation that Greg Freemyer just posted about. I have a
different question about the same slide. Unfortunately the presenter wasn't
able to shed any light on the topic but maybe the list can.

   Gaining Productivity with SAN Initiated Backup

            - Full support for Tru64 UNIX and TruCluster Server V5 for
controller-based snapshot/clone generation
                    * AdvFS provides Freeze/Thaw to enable consistent clone
or snapshot
                    * LSM supports cloned volumes

Does anyone have more details regarding "LSM supports cloned volumes"?

I would guess that it means you can take a byte-for-byte copy of a disk
(like you'd get by using dd to copy the contents of one drive to another)
and have LSM import the cloned volume and mount the contents. I currently
get an error message when LSM starts up saying "dsk23: clone rejected" or
something very similar.

If anyone is interested, the reason I'm asking is that we're an EMC shop and
have implemented EMC Timefinder & SRDF software which does pretty much the
same thing as EVM. It would make my life so much easier to have this
functionality.
