Fellow Sysadmins,

Don't know if this is an appropriate question for this mailing list but here goes.....We are looking into improving data protection at our site on Tru64 Systems. Obviously this would involve replicating Databases as well as non-database filesystems. While there are tools that allow Oracle replication but the question that still remains to be answered is

1. How do you get the last few redo logs off if the primary system is down or it's filesystems are unavailable for some reason?

2. What sort of tools are available for Oracle Replication?

3. Also, how do you replicate non-database filesystems? Backup and restore(with full as well as incremental backups would not be real time.

We are using StorageWorks HSG80's and are curious about possible and available options. I would really grateful if someone who is already doing data replication can share some information/experiences with us.
