sun tar on FreeBSD?

sunmanagers,

can anybody give me an advise how to tar distributions to solaris
platforms on a FreeBSD system such that it is sun tar compatible? Under
certain conditions the gnutar implementation on FreeBSD produces suntar
incompatible archives.

Currently i'm stuck with taring the archives through an nfs mount to a
solaris machine. Not nice.
