Dear Guru and Gurettes,
I was just informed of some rather unpleasant news. I am trying to set up my
hardware RAID on my E450 while using my latest and greatest Solaris 9. Well
after many failed attempts and a few choice words I was informed by my
Solaris support that the E450 hardware RAID with the X6542A and
X6601A/X6602A will never work with the Solaris 9 version. As I had told them
I had made this purchase with the intent of using the hardware RAID and the
new Solaris 9 features. They said that Solaris 8 will be the latest version
that they are going to have work with the E450 RAID controllers. They said
they would not make patches and wanted people to migrate to the V480. Of
course this does not help my situation, but I wanted to be sure the the
industry knew. So far there is NO documentation in Sun that will tell you
this information. If anyone has some additional thoughts or comments, I will
be more than happy to write a summary concerning what others may have heard.
