Perl 5.005_03 hanging on solaris 2.6

Recently we have been getting occasional perl/cgi processes that hang.
It looks like it happens at random times of the day (most likely under
load). Killing the parent webserver does not do anything but pass them
off to init, as you would expect. A pstack/pmap/psig/pfiles shows the
proceeses are doing a read or write and sometime they are stuck in a
exit handler. Killing one of them usually causes all three to exit
though. The same behavior appears to occur running perl 5.8.0. One
other note we have included DBI-1.13 and DBD-Oracle-1.03 extensions
 with the above.
