How to tell if machine is 64bit or 32bit?

I have a SunFire 280R with Solaris 9. What's the command
to tell if the machine is in 64bit or 32bit? Does the default
OS 9 installation install 64bit or is this a selectable thing?
Also, how does one change from
64 to 32 and vice versa?
