Dear all

I am investigating using OpenLDAP and whenever I use ldapsearch from a
client I fail to bind to my server. I am using the following command line:
ldapsearch -v -H "ldap:///dn=ldapserver/dn=napier/dn=ac/dn=uk" -D
"cn=Administrator,cn=Users,dn=napier,dn=ac,dn=uk" -W

I get the following error:
ldap_initialize( ldap:///dn=ldapserver/dn=napier/dn=ac/dn=uk )
Enter LDAP Password:
ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Can't contact LDAP server

>From what I can gather from the web the -H syntax is causing the difficulty.
Has anyone had difficulties with this command, and can they suggest where
the syntax error is? If I use , instead of / I get the following error:
Could not create LDAP session handle (3): Time limit exceeded
