interface dropping packets on all interfaces every 5 minutes- production urgent issue

We have check point Firewall (Sun server - running Solaris 7 ) which is
dropping packets on all interfaces every 5 minutes for up to 10 seconds in
duration. monitored all the processes using top - Identified that the CPU
goes to 100% utilisation at the 5 minute interval mentioned, causing all
traffic forwarding to stop
on all interfaces. When CPU goes 100% the telnet session freezes so I am
not able to see which process is causing this ,and after 5-10 seconds the
telnet sessions becomes active again -hardware Engineer has determined
no hardware issues exist -no errors in /var/adm/messages..

Are there any utilites /commands to identify root cause of this strange
problem ? has anyone seen something like this before .
