iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 LDAP schema requires o=isp?

I'm installing an evaluation installation of iMS 5.2, along with iDS 5.1.

The iMS documentation, especially the Provisioning Guide, speak of the need
to have a root suffix name o=isp as the root of your Org Tree. Various other
documentation implies that this suffix will be automatically created. Yet,
when I'm following the installation process, I'm not seeing that object
created. I'm subsequently experiencing weird errors in finding recipients
(that are defined in the ou=people group of the o=domain.tld object created
by the IMS schema update), in searching the LDAP database via address books,
and other assorted oddnesses.

How important is the o=isp suffix? Will going back and fixing this help
solve some of the oddities I am seeing?
