Solaris 8 Veritas 3.2

I am running Veritas 3.2 with the root disk not under Veritas control. This
will be my first attempt at installing Solaris 8 patches on a unit with
Veritas running. My question is, since I do not encapsulate the root disk,
what are the procedures for upgrading only the OS? I find only procedures for
running root under Veritas.
