/etc/mnttab is gone

Hi all,

I was trying out Sharity-light. It worked somehow on one machine. It did
not work on the other (see my other mail). But that is not the problem
of this mail. I just tried "df -b" on both machines and got no response.

bash-2.03$ df -b
bash-2.03$

I furthermore realized that /etc/mnttab on both shlight machines is gone
(has a file size of 0). This looks no good. Is it correct that a system
with a zero size /etc/mnttab will not boot? Or is this file
created/derived at bootup anyhow? These are two productions machines.
Please help!!! What can I do to rescue these machines? I unfortunately
have no backup of the /etc directory (stupid me).

Thanks,

    Andreas
