Linux password encryption on Solaris

We run SunOne Directory 5.1 for authentication of linux systems and would
like to extend its use to our Solaris systems.
The directory was loaded with the encrypted password in the shadow file of a
RedHa Linux system, and our Solaris systems do not recognize the encrypted
string. (A RedHat linux systems recognizes the password generated on a
Solaris system.)
What do I have to do in order to get the passwords generated on the linux
system to be recognized by the solaris system?
