LOM, tip and alternative break -- surely this can't be right

Hi managers

Sun's alternative break sequence -- <tilde><return><ctrl-b> -- can't, it
seems, be sent from tip, because tip traps a new line starting with a tilde. Typing two tildes, return, ctrl b, for some reason, doesn't work.

You can do a #. and get to the lom>. But lom>, although allowing the sending of a normal break, can't send the alternative break.

Blade100 (ssh) -> T1 (cua/b) -> X1 (cua/a)

(this is after solving the problem of how to stop ssh from traping a tilde on the first line).

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? if i'm not doing anything wrong, this seems crazy to me, the two Sun tools for managing a serial port to/from a Netra T1 can't send the alternative break sequence? Or am I missing something?
