Large Flash Archives on Sol 8

I've created flash archives on Solaris 8 with the latest patches. The archives
are about 6GB. When trying to use them I get the following error:

WARNING: Flash Archive IDs do not match (possible corrupt archive)

I did some digging and found out that flash is 32bit and does not enjoy files
over 4GB. They suggested splitting the archives. Do we know of any other
solutions for Sol 8, perhaps some other patch, that would allow large archives
to be created?
