Hi All,
I have a query regarding the deleting of many files in a
fast way.
Over the last few days, we were testing a correction to one of our programs
when we noticed that it had created a directory with nearly 6,000,000 files
in it. This is a test system so no big deal. I went to delete the files
and it
took almost 9 hours using the following command as root.
rm -rf <directory_name>
Is there any quicker/dirtier way to delete these files. We are running
on Solaris
8 (02/02) with Vxvm 3.2 and VxFs 3.4. The directory in question
resided on the Veritas File system.
Again this is not an urgent issue but I would like to know.
I will summarise.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Mossey
