CPU usage with muli processes

Hello on my ultra60 2x450MHz using a single CPU intensive process show 1
cpu at 100% usage.
IF I run more than 1 CPU intensive process shows 50% usage for each CPU
both in TOP and in ps.
IS this normal ?
