Hi

So far so good....!

- I put out the NVRAM
- Going to a sparcstation 5 enter the NVRAM
- Booting until ok prompt appears
- Message appears setting to default
- Put out the NVRAM from sparcstation 5 and entered it to the Ultra 5
- Booting until ok prompt appears
- Message appears THE IDPROM contents are invalid Ethernet address
0:0:0:0:0:0 Host ID: 0000000

Now the password is gone it could be all OK but now I have an other
problem....! Because of changing the NVRAM to an other machine the HostID
and the Ethernet Address are gone and now the password is gone but I can't
install because the following ERROR comes up if I boot or I would like to
install the machine:

THE IDPROM contents are invalid
Ethernet address 0:0:0:0:0:0 Host ID: 0000000

I have read a document
http://www.squirrel.com/squirrel/sun-nvram-hostid.faq.html#arcane
But sorry I don't understand it really: could you help me what must be
entered exactly:

Ultra 1
Architecture is sun4u
Figures on the Barcodes NVRAM 9412DC

- First boot with L1 and n pressing down until Banner on OK appears
- Then enter set-defaults
- Then enter diag-switch? False
- Then enter ??????????????

Please help could somebody fix it what must be entered exactly with HEX and
bytes etc. sorry I could not really understand the document mentioned
above...!

Kind regards

Andrea

Do you have any other Ultra systems at your disposal? (preferrably
different architecture ones?)

If so, you can mave the NVRAM from one to another and the NVRAM
will then fail the checksum and allow you to reset the password.

The last method is doing hotplugging of NVRAMs or pulling the NVRAM
out and reading the password in a PROM reader.
