X7052 vs X7063 in 280R

Greetings.

I have two 280R's, each with 4GB RAM. One (call it system A) has
4x1GB DIMMS; the other (system B) has 8x512MB DIMMS. I want to
replace 4 of the 512MB DIMMS in system B with 1GB DIMMS, then take
those removed 512MB DIMMS and put them into system A, giving a new
total of 6GB RAM in each system. No problem, right?

Well, Sun has two option numbers for 4x1GB DIMMS for a 280R: X7052A
and X7063A. The 7063 is quite a bit cheaper, so I'd like to go with
it if I can, but it uses the new differentiated DIMMS (which also work
in the SunBlade 1000/2000) while the 7052 uses the older style DIMMS.
Our existing memory is the older style, and on Sunflash I found:

 Q. Can I mix and match differentiated DIMMs with previous DIMMs
    used by Sun Blade 1000/2000?

 A. Yes. It is possible to mix and match differentiated DIMMs with
previous DIMMs in a Sun Blade 1000/2000 without any degradation
of performance or change in funcionality. You can mix and match
DIMMs even within the same memory bank. Please note: this mixing
and matching of DIMMs ONLY applies to Sun Blade 2000/1000.

This appears to say I can't mix the two types in a 280R, even if
they're in separate banks, but I could find no other reference to this
incompatibility elsewhere to verify it, including on Sunsolve. I
don't want to buy the less expensive memory and then have it not work
with my existing memory, nor do I want to pay more for the older style
memory if I don't have to. So, my question is: does anyone know for
certain if the two types of DIMMS can happily coexist in separate
banks within the same 280R?

I'll summarize any answers to the list.
