Sun Gigaswift card and Solaris 8

Just a quick question: We're looking at doing 802.1q ethernet on a gigabit
ethernet
card. The interfaces that came with our V880 (use the ge device driver)
don't seem to
support it, so we are looking at getting a pair of Gigaswift cards that do.

My quandary is that there's no mention of configuring vlans on docs.sun.com
that specifically
reference Solaris 8. The platform notes and the hardware platform guide
make reference to
configuring /dev/ce only on solaris 9.

Can anyone tell me if this does actually work on solaris 8? For various
reasons upgrading to 9 is
not an option, and I'd just as soon not aquire some Gigaswift cards only to
find they don't work.
I would assume they do, because the CE driver appears to be installed as
part of Solaris 8, but
thought it best to try and confirm.

Thanks and Regards

Ed Rolison.
