tcpwrapper confusion

I hope some tcpwrapper expert can help answer this
question:

It is my understanding that TCPwrapper by default will
do reverse name lookup for all incoming connections,
which, to me, seems to mean that if you are using dhcp
and if you dns is not set up to dynamically update its
records, your login will be rejected. Is this right?

On our solaris boxes, however, this is never a
problem. When I log in, I can find out that my
connection is showing up as coming from an IP address:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. If I try to nslookup that address,
nslookup replies with "non-existent domain...", but my
login was not rejected!

So what did I miss?
