Problems with Pre installed perl in Solaris 8

dear managers
I m trying to install a Software on Solaris 8 which uses perl 5.6....,the
problem I m facing is that Solaris comes with preinstalled perl version
5.005_03 when I installed perl 5.6 and try to run perl -version command it
always gives me last version that is 5.005 ,can anyone of u tell me that how
can I change the default PATH of perl and use perl 5.6 and also tell me that
if I uninstalled perl 5.005 will it effect my system performance
